José Antonio Devecchi

The penalty shootout against Málaga in the 2015 Copa Euroamericana final was a defining moment for José Antonio Devecchi. He was in goal for San Lorenzo de Almagro that night, and he saved one of the spot kicks as the club took the trophy.

Devecchi came through the San Lorenzo academy between 2009 and 2014, and made his senior debut for the club in 2014. That same year he was named in the squad that won the Copa Libertadores, though as third-choice goalkeeper he did not play. The pattern repeated with the 2015 Supercopa Argentina: he was part of the winning squad, but sat behind the first-choice keeper for the final against Boca Juniors. He was called into the Argentina under-20 squad for the 2015 South American Youth Championship without making an appearance.

What followed was a decade defined less by San Lorenzo than by the clubs that borrowed him. He spent the 2020–21 season in Chile with Audax Italiano, then moved to Aldosivi from 2021 to 2023. A loan to Sarmiento de Junín in 2023 was followed by short spells at Atlético Tucumán and Banfield in 2024 — at Banfield he did not play a single match. In 2025 he went back to Sarmiento for a second loan before returning to San Lorenzo, where he now wears the number 25 shirt.

Born in Corrientes, Devecchi holds Italian citizenship alongside his Argentine nationality.
