Mauricio Cardillo

The Copa Argentina final of 2025 ended 2–2, and Mauricio Cardillo was in the Independiente Rivadavia side that started it. The penalties went 5–3 against Argentinos Juniors. Cardillo had already left a mark on the run: he scored in the round of 16 against Central Córdoba de Rosario.

He started at Club Embajadores in Olavarría, the town he comes from, and moved into the Lanús youth academy around 2018. A first professional contract followed in April 2022, and he was named in the squad for that year's Copa Sudamericana — but the competitive debut for the Lanús first team never came in the Primera División.

It came instead somewhere else. In February 2023 he went on loan to Nueva Chicago and played the season in the Primera Nacional, returning to Lanús that December. In August 2024 he moved to Independiente Rivadavia, who took 50% of his rights.

In January 2026 he joined San Lorenzo de Almagro on a free transfer. The contract runs to 31 December 2026, with an option for the club to buy 50% of his rights for $600,000; taking it up would trigger an automatic renewal through to December 2029.

He has not been capped by Argentina at senior or youth level.
