About the player
A tournament in Nigeria organised by Andrei Balmoș and Rony Layous put Michael Idowu in front of scouts from FC Argeș Pitești. That was the route out: a forward from Lagos, signed on 5 February 2026 to what sources describe as his first professional club.
Before that came the Jimmy Football Academy in Lagos, where he learned the game, and a training camp at the Red Bull Salzburg Academy at the age of 17. The transfer fee to Argeș was not made public; his market value has been put at around €50,000.
He arrived into the U19 squad and was moved up to the first team from there. He wears the number 7 shirt. His contract in Pitești runs until 30 June 2028.
The playing record so far is thin. Argeș spent the 2024–25 season in Liga II, the second tier of Romanian football, and Idowu was part of the squad, though no match figures for that campaign appear in the available sources. The club went up to Liga I for 2025–26. Since then his involvement has been minimal — some records list two appearances and no goals in the 2026–27 context.
He is left-footed and plays as a forward. He has been linked with the Flying Eagles and the Golden Eaglets, Nigeria's under-20 and under-17 sides, but there is no confirmed record of him appearing for either.
