Robert Rojas

Robert Rojas was still a teenager when he came through the youth ranks at Guaraní, and it was there, in a defeat to Libertad in February 2017, that his professional career began. Two years later he had done enough to earn a move to Argentina, where River Plate paid close to three million dollars for the bulk of his rights.

The years that followed were the most decorated of his career. Rojas won two Argentine league titles with River Plate, along with the Copa Argentina, the Supercopa Argentina, the Recopa Sudamericana and the Trofeo de Campeones. In 2020 SofaScore named him in its team of the year for Latin America.

Not everything went his way in Buenos Aires. In 2022 a deliberate challenge from an Alianza Lima opponent in the Copa Libertadores left him with a broken tibia and fibula, ruling him out for six months. A year later, in the same competition, he missed the decisive penalty in a shootout against Internacional, sending River Plate out of the tournament.

Loan spells at Tigre and Vasco da Gama followed as his River Plate career wound down, before he returned home to Paraguay in January 2025 to sign for Olimpia. That stay was brief: within months, with his contract not renewed, he moved on to Libertad in a swap deal that sent defender Adrián Alcaraz the other way.

At international level, Rojas made his debut for Paraguay against Japan in September 2019 and scored his first goal for the national team five days later against Jordan. He was part of the squad for the 2021 Copa América.
