Roland Galčík

Slovakia were a goal apiece with Malta on 1 June 2026 when Roland Galčík, making his senior debut, snatched it at the death — his winner came in the 97th minute and settled the friendly at 2–1. It remains his only goal for the national side, from two caps.

The route there ran almost entirely through one club. Galčík joined the senior side at FK Železiarne Podbrezová in 2018 and stayed until 2021, and the club kept pulling him back: on loan in 2022, then permanently from 2023 until 2026. Across those spells he made roughly 183 league appearances and scored 59 goals.

The interruption was a season at MŠK Žilina in 2022–23, a bigger stage that yielded 32 appearances and four goals. He returned to Podbrezová, and it was there that the numbers turned. In 2025–26 he scored 11 times in the Niké liga, took the league's goal of the month award for October 2025, and was named in the division's team of the season.

That form took him abroad for the first time. On 16 July 2026 he signed for Rio Ave FC in Portugal on a contract running to 30 June 2030. He scored in his first outing for the club, a pre-season friendly against Nottingham Forest B that Rio Ave won 5–2.

The younger international record is thinner: 13 matches and one goal for Slovakia's under-21s between 2021 and 2022. Galčík has yet to win a league title or cup, at home or abroad.
