Sergio Mendoza

There is little drama in Sergio Mendoza's story, and that suits a left-back whose reputation is built on being reliably there rather than on moments anyone remembers years later. Born in Asunción, he came through the youth ranks at Club Guaraní, one of Paraguay's traditional sides, before his career took him into the country's second tier.

In October 2019 he joined 2 de Mayo, where he spent two seasons playing in the División Intermedia. It was there, away from the top flight, that he built the experience that eventually took him back up to the first division. His move to Sportivo Trinidense in October 2021 marked the turning point: he signed a contract running through to the end of 2026.

Since arriving at Sportivo Trinidense, Mendoza has held down the left-back spot as a first-choice starter.

There is no record of a call-up to the Paraguay national team in his file. His career, as far as the available record shows, has been built entirely at club level — from the academy at Guaraní, through the lower-division spell at 2 de Mayo, to his present, long-term home at Sportivo Trinidense.
