Valentin Iulian Crețu

Valentin Crețu did not walk straight into professional football. He spent six years in the youth ranks at Olimpia Râmnicu Sărat before Gloria Buzău signed him, and his path ran through loan spells rather than a settled first-team place — back to Râmnicu Sărat and on to Delta Tulcea in 2009. The move that gave him a foothold in the game came that September, when Concordia Chiajna took him on a free transfer. He stayed five years, and was farmed out again along the way, including a spell at Rapid București.

Gaz Metan Mediaș signed him in 2014, and it was there that his career took him abroad, on loan at Energie Cottbus in Germany's 3. Liga in 2016. He returned to Romania with ACS Poli Timișoara before FCSB paid €125,000 for him in August 2019.

He has made 221 appearances in all competitions for the club, scored once and set up 24 goals, and he has stayed long enough to collect a full trophy cabinet: the Liga I title in 2023/24 and 2024/25, the Romanian Cup in 2019/20, and the Romanian Super Cup in both 2024 and 2025.

His run at Chiajna had already produced a domestic honour, a Liga III title with Râmnicu Sărat back in 2008/09. International recognition has been rarer: Crețu has been capped twice by Romania, without scoring. His contract at FCSB runs to the end of December 2026.
