«Salaíto»
Estadio José María Olaeta holds 6,800 people. That ground is where Argentino de Rosario, known locally as Salaíto, plays in white and blue.
The club traces itself to 15 January 1912, though the roots run earlier: a blog account puts the actual merger, of Estudiantes Football Club and the remnants of a dissolved Veloz Club Rosario, at 10 September 1904, under the name Club Atlético Argentino. The current name, Club Atlético Argentino de Rosario, was adopted on 9 August 1914.
What follows is a long record of climbing and dropping between the third and fourth tiers. A Tercera de Ascenso title in 1950 got things moving. Reclassification pushed the club into Primera B in 1967, where it won the reclassification tournament two years later. A runner-up finish in Primera D in 1972 sent it into Primera C instead, and further promotions in 1986, 1989 and 1993 came off Reducido and Octogonal D wins. Primera D titles followed at intervals — 1989, the 2006 Clausura, the 2010 Octogonal D, the 2015 Reducido — each one a route back up to Primera C.
More recently, in 2022, the club beat 9 de Julio of Rafaela in the final to win the Copa Santa Fe. Earlier still, in the 1930s and 1940s, it collected regional titles through the Asociación Rosarino de Fútbol, including the Torneo Preparación in 1935 and the Torneo Gobernador Luciano Molinas in 1944; a second-place finish in Primera B in 1945 came without the promotion to match.
Few players who have passed through Salaíto went on to wider recognition. Matías Rotondi, who was at the club between 2016 and 2018, later won a championship in Guatemala with Municipal.
