Canberra Juventus

What is now Canberra Juventus FC began in 1953. The colours followed too: black and white, with a badge modelled on the Turin original down to the yellow lettering.

The 1960s and 1970s were the club's stretch. It took the ACT League premiership in 1964 and again in 1965, and kept picking them up through 1985 — thirteen in all — while the Federation Cup came four times in five seasons from 1965. Then, in 2000 and 2001, it won a premiership and a championship at the top of the newly reorganised Capital Football pyramid, followed by one more cup in 2003.

The name, though, went missing. The Gungahlin branch was renamed Gungahlin United in 2005; a group of members broke away and started Gungahlin Juventus, and for the next seventeen years the club that had won all of it was playing under something else. The Juventus name only came back in 2022.

Capital Football wrote in June 2023 that the club stands as the second most successful men's side in the territory. That measure counts a lot of trophies won before most of the current squad was born. In the National Premier Leagues Capital Football, the competition the club now plays in, the honours board stops at 2003 — and the last league title, the championship of 2001, is a quarter of a century old.
