Candango

Zico opened a branch of his Rio de Janeiro football school in the Federal District, and for a quarter of a century the club carried his name: Centro de Futebol Zico de Brasília. That changed in April 2025, when former player Schwenck bought the club and renamed it Candango Esporte Clube.

The club dates to August 1999 and now plays in the Campeonato Brasiliense Série B. A second-division championship followed in 2010. The women's side was, for a spell, the dominant force in the Federal District, taking the Campeonato Brasiliense Feminino four years running from 2000 to 2003.

Estádio JK in Paranoá holds around 3,000 and serves as the regular home, though bigger fixtures have been played at the Mané Garrincha in Brasília. Red and black are the club's colours, and matches against Taguatinga carry local weight even without a name of their own — the derby known as the Clássico Candango, strictly speaking, belongs to Brasília FC and Gama.

Schwenck is the name that runs through the club's history twice over: as an attacker in the 2002 championship side, and, more than two decades later, as the owner who rewrote what the club is called.
