Luziânia

Twice, in 2014 and 2016, Luziânia lifted the Campeonato Brasiliense. No side from outside the district had taken it before Luziânia did.

The club has carried the name Luziânia only since 1945, when the city itself changed its name and the team, then called Associação Atlética Luziana, changed with it. A decade later it turned into Luziânia Esporte Clube and swapped its sky blue for black and white, a spell that ended in 1995: a fire went through the club's archives, and afterwards the old name and the original colours came back. The nickname Azulão held through all of it.

Before the Brasiliense doubles, the honours were mostly local and regional — the Copa do Planalto, taken in 1929 and again in 1962, among them Zequinha Roriz, whose name the home ground now carries alongside its better-known one, Estádio Serra do Lago. Gama has stood as the club's main rival through the decades in between.

It began with one man. Manoel Gonçalves da Cruz founded the club in December 1926, in a city that at the time was still called Luziana.
