Legião

Before it had a badge worth taking seriously, Legião was a group of kids on a social project in Brasília, playing under a name borrowed from Legião Urbana, the rock band the Federal District never stopped listening to. That amateur side, Legião de Craques, started in 2001 and carried the tribute into professional football when the club turned pro on 11 May 2006 — hence Time dos Roqueiros, the Rockers' Team, the name still used for the side today.

The first season delivered the Terceira Divisão title. A year later came a runners-up finish in the Segunda Divisão, which sent them up again, and by 2008 Legião were in the Campeonato Brasiliense top flight for the first time, also entering that year's Série C. Staying up proved harder than getting there: relegation followed in 2009, promotion in 2011, relegation again in 2014.

Derby day means Brasília FC, in fixtures loosely billed as the Clássico Candango. Against Capital FC the meetings carry a name of their own, the Clássico do Rock.

Legião now play in orange and black at the Estádio Nacional Mané Garrincha.
