Coimbra

The club emerged on 5 January 1986. The supporters responded with orange and white shirts, adopting the nickname ‘Mechanical Orange’—a reference to the colours rather than any mechanical innovation.

Coimbra has spent most of its existence in the lower tiers of the Campeonato Mineiro. The club plays its home matches at the Estádio Flávio Pentagna Guimarães, a modest ground with a capacity of 600 spectators. When larger crowds are expected, the team moves to the Estádio Independência in Belo Horizonte, though such occasions remain rare.

Their recent success has been confined to the amateur ranks. They won the Campeonato Mineiro Segunda Divisão in 2018, claimed the Módulo II title in 2019, and repeated the Segunda Divisão victory in 2025.

The partnership with FC Porto brought structure and recognition, but it also brought questions. The answer is likely both. Coimbra continues to play in Contagem, with the same supporters and the same expectations.
