The Campeonato Mineiro Módulo II operates as the second tier of professional football within the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Organized by the Federação Mineira de Futebol, the competition serves as a critical feeder league, distinct from the premier state division and the third tier. While the tournament has undergone structural shifts since its inception, it currently functions as a pathway for clubs aiming to reach the top flight.
The 2026 season features a format designed to balance regional representation and competitive fairness. Twelve teams are split into two groups of six, playing a round-robin schedule within their respective brackets. The top four sides from each group progress to a knockout phase comprising quarterfinals, semifinals, and a final. These knockout matches are contested over two legs, with home advantage determined by the best campaign in the first phase. The bottom-placed team in each group faces relegation to the Terceira Divisão.
Success in this competition offers significant rewards beyond state-level prestige. The champion and runner-up secure promotion to the state’s elite Módulo I. Furthermore, the winner gains entry into the Campeonato Brasileiro Série D, the fourth tier of the national league system. This dual opportunity for advancement distinguishes the tournament from other regional structures. The current champion is Coimbra, who claimed the 2025 title. Mamoré holds the record for the most titles with three victories. The competition remains a vital component of the state’s football hierarchy, providing a structured route for development and ascent.
