Mamoré

Mamoré against URT is the derby the town cares about, known as Clássico do Milho.

The club nearly stopped being either half. Mamoré came back in 2009 and won the Campeonato Mineiro Segunda Divisão in the same year. It won the division a third time in 2023 under José Humberto.

The ground it plays on now, the Estádio Bernardo Rubinger de Queiroz, belongs to the club, and Mamoré rents it out. URT took it for 25,000 reais — a tenancy that ended sixty years of the two clubs keeping their distance.

Promotion to the top flight of Minas Gerais has come twice, in 1992 and 2015, and the title there has never come at all. What the club does have from that first ascent is a Supercopa de Minas Gerais, won in 1993.

Maicon passed through in 2005, picked up at seventeen and gone to Cruzeiro four months later; he went on to win the Portuguese championship with Porto. Four months is the whole of his Mamoré record, and the club still counts it.

The Bernardo Rubinger holds 10,252 in a town whose football year turns on one afternoon against the neighbours.
