Flamengo Fbc Women

In December 2024, weeks after taking office, club president Luis Eduardo Baptista watched his women's side lift a ninth Campeonato Carioca title.

That shutdown is part of the story too. Flamengo fielded a women's team from 1995, then dissolved it in 2002. The project was not picked up again until 2011, and even then it needed outside backing: from 2015 the team carried the Brazilian Navy as a partner and played as Flamengo/Marinha, a sponsorship arrangement that lasted a decade before ending in 2025, when the club folded the team back under its own Olympic sports department.

Home matches are rarely played at the Maracanã. Instead the team settles into the Estádio Luso-Brasileiro on the Ilha do Governador, known locally as Ilha do Urubu, or occasionally shifts to the Gávea ground. It suits a side whose nickname, Meninas da Gávea, ties it to that neighbourhood anyway.

The trophy case leans heavily local. Beyond the run of Carioca titles, Flamengo have one national league crown, from 2016, and a pair of Brazilian Super Cups in 2020 and 2021.
