Hamilton Olympic

Greek immigrants in the Newcastle suburb of Hamilton put a team together in 1976 and called it Newcastle Olympic. The name lasted until 1992, when the club took the suburb's name instead — Hamilton Olympic — and kept it for 27 years. In 2019 it went back to what it started with, which is why both names still turn up on team sheets and in club records.

The stretch that matters ran from 1998 to 2001. Olympic finished top of First Grade as Major Premiers in each of those four seasons, and in the first of them added the Arctic Cup as well. Club Champion followed in 1998, then again in 2000 and 2001, so the trophies were coming from the seniors and the lower grades at the same time. A seventh title of the run, the Presidents Cup, arrived in 2001 and came back in 2004.

After that the wins thinned out and changed shape. The last Club Championship on the list is 2014.

Darling Street Oval holds 2,000 and has been known by two other names, Darling St Oval and Cahill Oval, depending on who is writing.

Olympic now play in the Northern NSW NPL, which keeps the fixture list local.
