Kahibah

Gateshead is not a place that turns up often in football writing, and Harold Knight Oval, reached off Willow Road, holds 300 people on a good day. That is Kahibah's ground.

The club dates itself to 1 July 1924, though the Wikipedia infobox has long carried 1925 instead; the club's own reckoning, marked by a centenary in 2025, settles it. One title does survive from the paper record: the 4th Grade championship of 1936.

Kahibah plays in Northern League One, the second tier of football in Northern New South Wales, after relegation from the NPL in 2025. The club reached the semi-final in that first season back, beaten by Toronto Awaba FC, and had done the same the year before at NPL level, going out 0-1 to Singleton Strikers. A women's side is due to join the NPLW in 2027.

Two names carry the club's playing history further than most. Ernie "Smoke" Screen represented Australia and captained Northern NSW in the 1930s, taking the field against Reg Date.

The club still plays under the slogan "bleed green," and still fields a team on the same 300-capacity ground it has used since 1924.
