«Red Devils»
Coal built Wallsend, and the men who came up from the pits filled out the first sides. That is the club the town has kept since 1887, when it started life as Wallsend Rovers.
The trophy years run roughly from the 1920s to the mid-1960s. Nothing catches it better than the Daniel's Cup. The state premiership came six times.
Home was Crystal Palace until 1985.
The nickname arrived in 1967, after a supporter paraded in a devil's costume at a match against Manchester United; red and white were already the colours, and had been since the start.
Modern honours are thinner. The 2015 Northern League One grand final, won 1–0 against Valentine, is the one they talk about.
In 2023 the club pulled out of Northern League One mid-season, short of players and short of people to run it. Supporters put it back together and Wallsend returned to the competition.
