Korfez Basket

The Şehit Polis Recep Topaloğlu Spor Salonu in İzmit holds around 5,000 people. The club arrived by licence: in the summer of 2026 the owners moved their Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) place from Manisa and rebranded the side as Körfez Basket for 2026–27. The new organisation has said it has no organic connection to the Manisa club beyond the licence it inherited.

That licence has a history of its own. It began in 1994 as Manisa Belediyespor and passed through several names, including Manisa Büyükşehir Basket Kulübü from 2014 and Manisa Basket from 2024. The high point came in 2021–22, when the side won the Türkiye Basketbol Ligi and earned promotion to the BSL. It had already taken the Federasyon Kupası in 2021. In the top flight it met Pınar Karşıyaka and Aliağa Petkimspor in the games known as the Ege Derbisi, the Aegean Derby. In 2023–24 it reached the quarter-final and lost to Beşiktaş.

Jo Lual-Acuil was among the imports of the Manisa years. This season's squad is captained by Matt Mitchell and also includes Boo Buie and Johnny Davis. Serhan Kavut is head coach and Hacı Yılmaz is president. The team has qualified for the Basketball Champions League for 2026–27.

The colours are green, white and black, and Turkish media call the team Yeşil-Siyahlılar, the Green-Blacks. The name now belongs to a hall in the Körfez district, on the Gulf of İzmit side of Kocaeli.
