Türk Telekom

Ankara has two basketball clubs and one weekend that stops the city, and Türk Telekom holds up its end against TED Ankara Kolejliler in what both sides call the Ankara Derby. Fenerbahçe Beko, Anadolu Efes and Galatasaray fill the rest of the calendar with the kind of fixtures where the away end travels.

The club sits under Türk Telekom Gençlik ve Spor Kulübü, a body that traces back to 1954 as the post and telegraph directorate's sports arm, PTT. Basketball came later, in 1991, still playing under the PTT name. A rename to Türk Telekom PTT followed in 1996, and once the telecoms sector was privatised in 1998, the club settled on the name it carries now. The colours, sky blue and dark blue over white, gave the team its nickname, Blue Tigers.

The Basketbol Süper Ligi title has stayed out of reach through two finals, 1996–97 and 2007–08, but the Turkish Cup came home in 2008 alongside a pair of Presidential Cups, in 1997 and 2008. Relegation hit in 2016 after a 15th-place finish, and the club needed until 2018 to force its way back to the top flight. The comeback found its shape under Erdem Can, still head coach now, who took the side to the top of the BSL regular season in 2022–23 with an unbeaten home record, then pushed on to the EuroCup final that same season, where Gran Canaria beat them. A EuroCup semi-final followed in 2025–26. Mehmet Okur wore the shirt during the 2011 NBA lockout, one name among a playing history that also runs through Kerem Tunçeri and Cüneyt Erden.

Games are played at the Ankara Arena, 10,400 seats in a city that splits its basketball loyalty down the middle.
