Langreo

Unión Popular de Langreo won the Tercera División in the same season it came into being. That was 1961–62.

The club exists because two rivals agreed to stop being rivals. CP La Felguera and Racing de Sama, also known as Club Langreano, had carried a football feud that mirrored a wider one between their two towns. On 4 July 1961 delegates signed the merger at Langreo town hall; the vote on a new name went 9–1 in favour of Unión Popular de Langreo, and José Antonio Coto Álvarez became the club's first president.

Home is the Estadio Nuevo Ganzábal in La Felguera, which holds 4,024. The shirt is a heavy blue-and-maroon check, and the coal seams that once ran under the town gave the side its nickname, Los Mineros. A regional Copa RFEF has been added three times, most recently in 2017.

None of it means as much locally as the derbi asturiano against Marino de Luanco.
