Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground sits in Kirtipur, on the edge of Kathmandu, and holds 13,000 people.

The association itself dates to 1946, set up under the Rana aristocracy decades before Nepal had a national side to speak of; the team did not play internationally until 1996, when it joined the International Cricket Council as an Associate Member. The gap between the two dates says something about how long the game sat as an institution before it became a team people followed.

Red and blue, taken from the flag, are the team's colours, and the rhinoceros on the association's crest gave the side its nickname, the Rhinos.

Nepal's honours read as a ladder through the associate ranks: the 2010 World Cricket League Division Five, won against the United States, the 2012 ACC Trophy Elite, shared with the United Arab Emirates, and the 2013 World Cricket League Division Three, taken from Uganda. Runners-up in the 2018 World Cricket League Division Two, they secured One Day International status regardless of the final. The most recent title, the 2023 ACC Men's Premier Cup against the UAE, sits alongside a longer-running contest with Bangladesh.
