Peru Women

Estadio Félix Castillo Tardío, in Chincha Alta, holds 14,000 and opened in 2025. The team itself dates to 1998, formed two years after the federation set up the Primera División Femenina in 1996. It went straight into competition: its first international, against Brazil in Mar del Plata on 2 March 1998, ended 15-0 to the Brazilians, and within the same year Peru took third place at the South American Women's Football Championship, beating Ecuador on penalties after a 3-3 draw.

That 1998 bronze remains the team's best finish in the tournament now known as the Copa América Femenina, across eight appearances. Its only continental title came at the 2005 Bolivarian Games in Armenia and Pereira, Colombia, where Peru won all four matches, scored 13 goals and beat Colombia 3-0 in the final. The World Cup has stayed out of reach at every attempt.

Miryam Tristán has carried the attack since 2003 and remains the side's all-time top scorer with 13 goals from more than two dozen caps.
