Venezuela Women

The Estadio Olímpico sits inside the campus of the Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas. It is where the team played its first international, on 13 July 1966, losing 2-1 to Colombia.

They are known as The Burgundy, with yellow, blue and white borrowed from the flag.

Bronze at the South American Games in Medellín in 2010, then silver at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2014 and again in 2018, then bronze in 2023. The Copa América Femenina has stayed out of reach, though fourth place in 2014 was the closest they came. The gold arrived in Asunción in 2022, at the South American Games — the first for Venezuelan women's football at that tournament.

What happened in between is harder to set down. Kenneth Zseremeta ran the team from 2013 to 2017, a spell that ended in accusations of physical and psychological abuse. In October 2021 more than 20 players went public with allegations of sexual harassment and rape against the former coach.

Pamela Conti took over in 2019 and stayed five years, 35 matches, 16 of them won. Ricardo Belli has had the job since 2025.
