Sao Joao Del Rei

In 2015 Figueirense finished first in Group B of the Campeonato Mineiro Segunda Divisão and went through to the Hexagonal Final. They did not win it. The club from São João del-Rei had turned professional ten years earlier, in 2005, and had been in existence since 19 October 1975.

Their home is the Paulo Campos stadium in the Matosinhos neighbourhood, which holds between 1,000 and 1,500 people. They do not have it to themselves. Social Futebol Clube and Minas Futebol Clube play there too, and those two are the opponents the city treats as the local derbies, though the fixture has no name of its own.

The club goes by Tigre do Bom Pastor and Alvinegro Praiano. It plays in black and white, the same colours as Athletic Club, the city's better-known side. Athletic, founded in 1909, play at the Joaquim Portugal ground, which seats about 6,324, and won the Campeonato Mineiro do Interior in 2022 and 2023. Figueirense work at a smaller scale. The youth side finished third in the 2017 Campeonato Mineiro Sub-20.

Figueirense now represent São João del-Rei in the Campeonato Mineiro Série 3, the Terceira Divisão, the third tier of Minas Gerais football. The 2015 Hexagonal Final is the highest point the club has reached.
