Ibrahim Shehab took charge of Sporty FC in October 2025, called in after Khalid al-Turki was let go on 20 October with the club anchored at the bottom of Kuwaiti Division One.

The project behind the shirt goes back further than the club itself. In 2009 the Sporty Sports Group opened an academy in Kuwait for the country's expatriate community, long before anyone at the group thought about entering senior football. A first attempt to register a club came in 2022–2023 and was turned down by the Kuwaiti Sports Association; short-lived offshoots set up in Abu Dhabi and in Gardabani, Georgia, were wound down around the same time. The club that finally took the field was founded on 8 September 2024 under the entrepreneur Ali Alhamad — the first professional club in Kuwait built on private ownership rather than state control.

Sporty FC were admitted to Division One in 2025 alongside 5 other newly formed sides, and played their first official match on 15 September 2025 at Khaitan Stadium, losing 0-2 to Al-Yarmouk.

The season since has been a struggle: Sporty sit last in the 8-team table, and turning that around is the job Shehab was hired to do.
