Al-Jazeera FC broke that pattern on 12 February 2025, registering as the country's first private football club with no government body standing behind it.
There was no time to settle in before the fixtures started. The debut season put the club straight into the Emir Cup and the Crown Prince Cup, both lost — 0-3 to Al-Kuwait, then 1-2 to Al-Jahra — and both played away from what is meant to be home. The Emir Cup tie went ahead at Sabah Al Salem Stadium, the Crown Prince Cup match at Abdullah Alkhalifa Alsabah Stadium in Mishref.
League football is different. In the Kuwait First Division, Al-Jazeera plays its matches at Al-Ahmadi Stadium.
No nickname has attached itself yet, no title sits in the cabinet, and none of that reads as unusual for a club still finishing its first year.
