Stellenbosch U23

On 23 July 2022, Stellenbosch's under-23 side lost the DStv Diski Shield final to Kaizer Chiefs U23.

The Young Maroons are the reserve team of Stellenbosch FC, the senior club that began in the Western Cape in 2016. They won the DStv Diski Challenge in the 2021/22 season and again in 2023/24.

Iqraam Rayners moved to Mamelodi Sundowns, and Deano van Rooyen to Orlando Pirates. Jayden Adams also joined Sundowns.

Home games are played at Idas Valley Stadium, which holds about 2,500. Cape Town City is the opponent that matters most to the club. Their meetings are known as the Cape Derby, or the Mother City Derby.

The final lost to Kaizer Chiefs U23 in 2022 did not end the connection with the Chiefs. Langelihle Phili and Ashley Du Preez both left Stellenbosch's academy for them. The side that beat the Young Maroons at the Shield final later signed two of their graduates.
