Wake Women

Wake Women claimed the South Atlantic Division in the USL W League on the first attempt, in 2022, finishing 6-1-5 for 19 points before either the roster or the ground had a season behind it. There was no playoff run to follow it up — the division win stood on its own, and it remains the only line in the club's record that reads as a title.

The results since have moved in the wrong direction. Third place in 2023 came with the division's best attack, 21 goals, and a squad still finding its feet. By 2024 that had slipped to fifth, still on 19 points but with fewer wins. Then came 2025, a single win all season, ten defeats, four points — the worst campaign in the club's short history. This year's team has pulled back up to fifth with four wins from ten, a partial recovery rather than a return to 2022 form.

Wake Women play out of Ting Stadium in Holly Springs, North Carolina, a 1,800-seat ground the team has called home since that opening season. Glad Bugariu coached the side through 2023; the post has sat vacant since, through the collapse of 2025 and the current rebuild. One name has travelled further than the club itself: Wasila Diwura-Soale came through Wake FC in 2022 before moving on to LSU, the USL Super League and international football with Ghana.

The team wears royal blue and gold, the colours of Wake FC across all its sides. It exists because the wider club, founded in 2012 as a youth academy in Holly Springs, expanded into semi-professional football in 2018 and fielded a women's side to go with it — one of two North Carolina teams to join the USL W League that year, alongside NC Courage U23.
