Tormenta Women

Tormenta Women had played only one season of league football when they lifted the USL W League trophy, beating Minnesota Aurora FC 2-1 after extra time in the final on 23 July 2022. The side itself was barely a year old: the club was announced on 8 June 2021, a women's team attached to South Georgia Tormenta FC, the men's club that had been playing out of Statesboro, Georgia, since 2015.

Home games are played at the Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium, which currently holds 3,500 people, with plans on record to expand it to 5,300. The players go by Ibises, a nickname drawn from the bird on the club crest, and turn out in navy, sky blue, silver and magenta.

That title season sent several players on to bigger leagues: Amy Andrews, named the competition's MVP and top scorer in 2022, moved to Sheffield United WSL, while Sydney Martinez, that year's top goalkeeper, went to Carolina Ascent FC. Momo Nakao later signed for Celtic FC Women.

Since April 2023, the meeting with Greenville Triumph SC has carried its own name, the Peach States Derby. It is the closest thing Tormenta Women have to a settled rivalry, playing in a division where Chattanooga Red Wolves SC and South Carolina United FC turn up as opponents without any such billing.

The 2022 championship remains the only one on the club's record. Tormenta Women have not reached another USL W League final since, their best return being a second-place division finish in 2024.
