Zebbug Rangers

What has defined the club instead is movement between divisions. The 2013–14 season sent them up to the Premier League on the back of a 4–0 win over Melita, and the following year took it all back: twelve points, last place, straight back down. The pattern repeated itself a decade later — a return to the top flight ended in 2022–23 with thirteenth out of fourteen, four wins and twenty defeats telling the rest of the story. In between came the one campaign the club can point to without qualification: the 2021–22 Challenge League title, won with a victory over Pembroke Athleta.

The one name attached to that fight for survival is Luke Montebello, sent on loan from Valletta for the second half of 2014–15 to help keep Zebbug Rangers up.

These days the club plays its football in the Challenge League again, in front of crowds that the Zebbug Ground was never built to stretch past a thousand.
