Gudja United

Promotion at Gudja United has come twice, and both times through the runners-up spot rather than the title itself. The 2015–16 season ended with the club second behind Gżira United, and 2018–19 brought the same finish, this time behind Sirens FC — each time enough to go up to the Premier League. The club has never won that top flight, and the closest it has come to a trophy of its own was the 2004–05 Third Division, taken outright.

The village side traces back to 1945, playing in blue and white that earned it the nickname I Blu, The Blues, long before promotion became a realistic target.
