Mgarr United

An under-16 side called Mgarr Juvenals, put together by France Debono after the old Mgarr Eagles folded, became Mgarr United in 1967. The club has spent most of its life on Gozo shuttling between the Challenge League and the amateur ranks below it.

The 2006-07 season stands out on its own terms: Mgarr United took the BOV Third Division title without losing a match. The double sent them back up to the Challenge League for 2024-25.

What has changed the club's profile more recently is the women's side. Ray Vella, a former Malta international, came back as technical coach in 2024, and the team has since taken the Women's League, beaten Hibernians 2-0 in the Women's Knock-Out Cup final, and added the Assikura Women's Super Cup. It has also fed players through to the Malta women's national team, Patricia Ebejer and Brenda Borg among them, while defender Alexandra Gatt moved on to the Barking Abbey College Football Academy in London.

Home games are still played on the same small ground on Triq il-Maghkuba, holding 300 by the club's own count.
