Melita

Pembroke is a small enough place that Melita share it with one direct neighbour, Pembroke Athleta, and the two settle it in the Pembroke Derby every season. The older grudge runs against Sliema Wanderers, dating to the 1939 Maltese FA Trophy final, which Melita won 4–0 — the club's only major honour.

The nickname L-Amaturi, "The Amateurs," is not decorative. It comes from the club's original statute, which barred professional status outright. Founded on 28 April 1933 by Gianni Bencini, who later gave his name to their ground in Pembroke, Melita spent most of their existence in the lower divisions, and it took until the 2012–13 season for them to win the First Division and reach the Premier League for the first time. They returned to the second tier's summit in 2023–24, winning the Challenge League to earn a second promotion.

Joseph Henry Griffiths is the name the club still measures itself against: a former player who went on to coach, and who founded the Malta Football Coaches Association. The youth setup has sent players on to bigger clubs and the national side, among them Steve Borg and Gilbert Agius. Brian Said currently manages the first team.

The artificial pitch, FIFA 2-Star certified, arrived with the sports complex Melita opened in 2007–08, but the club he set up in 1933, with its amateur statute and its 500-capacity ground, is still the one playing out the same derby in the same corner of Pembroke.
