Edmonton Oil Kings — Regina Pats: 5:1, WHL

Edmonton Oil Kings beat Regina Pats 5:1 in the WHL on 3 October 2026, bringing an end to a run of defeats for the visitors.

The Oil Kings had been struggling before this one, losing three of their last four matches against Medicine Hat, Calgary and Red Deer. They showed up with more bite than they'd shown in a while.

Regina came into the game off a 2:3 loss to Brandon Wheat Kings, having bounced back from a heavy 4:7 defeat to Prince Albert. The Pats had won two of their five recent games, but consistency remained elusive.

The result moves Edmonton off the bottom of the early standings, though both sides sit in single figures with barely a handful of games played. The gap between them doesn't mean much yet.

For the Oil Kings this was a chance to steady the ship after some shaky performances. For Regina, it was another stumble in a season that hasn't settled into shape.
