Karcsag played out a 2-2 draw with league leaders Soroslo in the second round of the NBII Regular Season on Saturday. The result keeps Soroslo at the top of the table while Karcsag move closer to safety after a difficult start to the campaign.
Karcsag took the lead through D. Kuznyecov in the twenty-fifth minute, but M. Kohut equalised for the visitors just three minutes later. B. Lovrencsics restored Karcsag's advantage before half-time with a goal in the forty-first minute. T. Szekszardi then levelled matters again in the forty-fifth minute, and the sides went into the break tied.
Two substitutions came early in the second half, with Z. Kalnoki-Kis and B. Fabian both coming on at the forty-sixth minute. The match turned increasingly physical, with five yellow cards shown: three for Karcsag in the fifty-fourth, seventy-third and seventy-sixth minutes, and two for Soroslo in the seventy-fourth and eighty-seventh minutes.
Stats tell a story of missed opportunities from both sides. Soroslo enjoyed 56 per cent possession and had ten shots with eight off target, but could only manage two on target. Karcsag had fewer chances with six shots and four off target, but their two on target were just enough to secure a point.
Before the match Soroslo sat top of the table with nineteen points from seven games, having lost none. Karcsag were seventh with ten points, sitting on two wins and four draws. The draw ends Soroslo's unbeaten run and gives Karcsag something to build on after a string of draws and defeats.
