Lincoln goes into the season under Artt Brey, who took over the Stars' bench in 2026 after Rocky Russo moved on following five seasons in charge.

The team exists because of the building it plays in. Realtor Mark Claydon pushed to give Lincoln its first indoor ice arena, the Ice Box, and built the club around it in 1996.

Two Clark Cups define the club's competitive peak. The first came in 1997, a 4–0 final win over the Green Bay Gamblers; the second in 2003, 3–1 over the River City Lancers. Three Anderson Cups for the best regular-season record, across 1999–00, 2000–01 and 2002–03, filled the years between. Ownership has changed hands since — Ryan Schiff bought the club in 2013, Alberto Fernandez in June 2021 — but the trophy cabinet has stayed as it was in 2003.

What has kept the Stars visible nationally is the list of players who passed through on their way up.

None of it carries the weight of the I-80 Rivalry Series against the Omaha Lancers.
