Lyngby

Lyngby head into the 2026–27 Superliga season having won the 1st Division outright. The return matters as more than a routine yo-yo trip: Yussuf Poulsen, Christian Nørgaard and Christian Gytkjær all came through the academy before making their names elsewhere.

Two collapses separate the club's best years from its present one. In December 2001 Lyngby went bankrupt and were relegated twice in a row, dropping into the amateur Danmarksserien; it took until 2007 to work back to the top flight. Between those two crises sits the period the club is still measured against: the Danish Championship in 1983 and 1991–92, three Danish Cups in the 1980s, and the 1986 UEFA Intertoto Cup. Four of the squad that won Denmark the 1992 European Championship had played for Lyngby.

The stadium tells its own version of the story. Built in 1949 as Lyngby Idrætspark on the site of the old Lundtofte airfield ground, it stayed under municipal ownership for over seventy years until Kongens Lyngby formally handed it to the club in February 2025 — control over the ground arriving within a year of the promotion that will put Superliga football back on it. Local rivalry now runs against FC Nordsjælland in what is called the North Zealand derby, though older supporters still measure the club against Akademisk Boldklub, the historic city rival now settled in the lower divisions.

Capacity at Lyngby Stadion stands at 10,000.
