Most league fixtures go to the Estadio Nacional Brígido Iriarte on Avenida Estadio in El Paraíso, a 10,000-seat ground where the club has played the bulk of its recent seasons. Continental football is another matter: for the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana the club decamps to the Estadio Olímpico de la UCV in Los Chaguaramos.

The club was founded on 3 August 2012 as Deportivo Metropolitano, took its present name later, and by 2015 had been relegated. That set up the first thing worth recording: the Segunda División title in 2016, which returned them to the top flight after a single season away.

The 2022 championship is the other. The final against Monagas SC finished 1-1 and went to penalties, and Metropolitanos won the shoot-out 4-3. It also opened the door to the Libertadores, which they contested in 2023 and again in 2024.

The Copa Venezuela has been less obliging. Two finals, two defeats: Zulia FC in 2016, and Deportivo La Guaira by a single goal in 2024.

The purple of the first-choice kit — purple shirt, shorts and socks throughout — gave the club its nickname, Los Violetas . The change strip breaks the pattern with pink and white.
