National Quebec

The Complexe Sportif Bonair holds about 2,000 people. National de Québec played its first game there only on 4 October 2024, against the Assurancia de Thetford Mines, after the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey announced the expansion franchise that June.

The name is not a marketing invention. It comes from Lance et compte , the Quebec television series created by Réjean Tremblay, and Tremblay himself signed off on its use. Blue, white and red were picked to recall the two professional teams the city had already lost — the original National and the Nordiques, the same colours the fictional club wore on screen.

Donald Brashear, who spent his previous season still playing in the league he now coaches in as an assistant, gives the staff a link to the ice as much as to the boardroom.

The season did not start well. It turned in December, when a trade brought in Alexandre Picard, a former NHL draft pick who had captained Marquis de Jonquière, and National went on to beat Cool FM de Saint-Georges, the league's top seed, in the playoffs. There are no banners yet at Complexe Sportif Bonair — the club has played only the one season — but the building in L'Ancienne-Lorette is where the real one starts.
