Riviere-du-Loup 3L

That is what it took to settle the 2025 LNAH final between the 3L and the Éperviers de Sorel-Tracy, a game before Sorel-Tracy scored to win it 3–2. Rivière-du-Loup had come that close a year earlier too, losing the 2024 final to the Assurancia de Thetford Mines, and the town wanted the other outcome.

It had that outcome once already. The club won the LNAH championship, the Coupe Vertdure, in 2016, beating Sorel-Tracy in a seven-game final. Captain Sylvain Deschâtelets took the playoff MVP award that spring, a name in a franchise history that also runs through Marc-André Tourigny, its all-time leading scorer with 385 points.

The team did not start out as the 3L. It moved to Rivière-du-Loup from Saint-Jean-Port-Joli for the 2004–2005 season under the name CIMT, and only in the summer of 2010 took the name it carries now — a nod to a local club from the 1970s and to the city's own name, which translates as "Wolf River," though nobody actually calls the players the Wolves. They have played since at the Centre Premier Tech.

Sorel-Tracy remains the team to beat: the two sides have now met in finals a decade apart, in 2016 and again in 2025.
