Kocaelispor beat Amed 2:0 in the Süper Lig's second round on Sunday at the Yıldız Entegre Kocaeli Stadiumu. Berkan Kutlu opened the scoring early and Matej Maglica pulled one back for the visitors late on, but the hosts kept their lead throughout.
Kutlu struck in the 16th minute and then here's the thing — he was substituted himself in the 85th minute, replaced by Dan Agyei. By then Kocaelispor had already done enough work to see the game out.
Amed got their goal in the 87th through Maglica, but the home side had tightened things up by that stage. Two yellow cards for Alban Lafont and Lumbardh Dellova in the 86th minute showed the visitors were feeling the pressure.
Statistically it was a curious match. Amed had 56 per cent possession and 103 attacks compared to Kocaelispor's 88, yet the hosts created two big chances while the visitors created none. Three shots on target against one — the numbers tell you where the real danger lay.
Both sides now sit sixth with six points from three games. Kocaelispor had dropped points against İstanbul Başakşehir on their last outing, while Amed came off a 3:0 win over Erzurum BB. This result keeps them level on the table.
