Mladost Lučani secured a surprising 3-1 victory over Partizan in the Super Liga's sixth round on Saturday evening. The result shifted expectations for both sides, with the home side moving further clear of the relegation zone while Partizan's struggles continued. By then it was already clear that possession alone would not be enough for the visitors.
Mladost took the lead in the twelfth minute through Vasil Tašovski, who finished a well-worked move. Partizan responded with pressure but could not find an equaliser before the break. Mihailo Todosijević doubled the advantage just before half-time with a thirty-sixth-minute strike. The visitors received a yellow card from Samson Nwulu in the eleventh minute but this did not settle their nerves.
The second half opened with three substitutions for Partizan, bringing on Ognjen Ugrešić, Chaka Traorè and Erik Kojzek. Mladost made their own changes, bringing on Mihailo Todosijević in the fifty-second minute. Nikola Ćirković added a third goal in the sixty-ninth minute, putting the result beyond doubt. Demba Seck scored a late consolation in the eighty-third minute to give Partizan a flicker of hope.
The statistics told a familiar story of dominance without reward. Partizan held 69 per cent possession and launched 160 attacks compared to Mladost's 69. Yet Mladost's six shots on target yielded three goals while Partizan's nine shots on target produced only one. And here's the thing — the visitors created more chances but failed to convert them when it mattered.
Mladost sit fourth with 10 points from seven games, while Partizan remain in eleventh place on 7 points from six matches. The result extends Mladost's unbeaten run and deepens Partizan's difficulties. To be fair the visitors had nothing to do all evening once the second goal fell, and the stadium fell silent as the home side held every card.
