Górnik Zabrze ground out a 3-1 victory over Radomiak Radom in the Ekstraklasa's third round on Saturday afternoon. The visitors took control from the opening exchanges and never looked back, despite Radomiak's spirited first-half display. Peter Federico opened the scoring before the break, and his brace proved decisive on a day when Górnik's clinical edge told.
Federico found the net in the 28th minute, finishing from a tight angle after a well-worked move. Górnik held their nerve when a penalty arrived just before the interval, K. Urbanski converting in the 45th-plus-fourth minute. Radomiak had two players booked in that closing spell, Conrado and I. Camara both cautioned as the game tightened.
The second half brought more of the same pattern. Federico added his second in the 64th minute, and Górnik completed the scoring through R. Wolski's penalty in the 67th. Radomiak made several changes in the final quarter, bringing on M. Khlan, I. Camara and S. Liseth, but could not find a way back into the match.
Górnik dominated possession at 54 per cent and created more chances, yet their shot accuracy of 29 per cent meant they left chances on the table. Radomiak were more direct, with 96 passes into the final third compared to Górnik's 168, but their 36 per cent shot accuracy was not enough. Both sides had five shots on target, but Górnik's clinical finishing made the difference.
The result leaves Górnik in third place with 15 points from six games, while Radomiak drop further to 12th with eight points from seven matches. Górnik's five wins from six outings extend their unbeaten run, though they now face a tougher test at home next week. Radomiak's third defeat in as many league games raises questions about their defensive setup.
