Skala 1911 Striy secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Rukh Vynnyky in the fifth round of the Druha League's regular season on Saturday. The result lifts the hosts from the lower half of the table and leaves the visitors still hovering around mid-table after two points dropped.
Both sides arrived with mixed recent form. Striy had opened their campaign with a 1-0 win against Niva Ternopil II before suffering a heavy 6-0 defeat at Zarya Luhansk. Vynnyky, meanwhile, had taken all three points in their opener but followed with a 2-2 draw against Niva Vynnyky and a 1-2 loss to Dnister Zaleshchyky.
The match itself offered little in the way of spectacle, but the hosts took their one clear opportunity. By then, the visitors had begun to look uneasy, their usual rhythm disrupted by a compact home defence that refused to be drawn out.
On the numbers, possession was largely even and neither side could string together sustained pressure. Shots were scarce, and when they came they lacked the precision to trouble the goalkeeper. It was a match decided in moments rather than minutes.
After the final whistle, Striy moved to four points, climbing out of the bottom two, while Rukh remained on three points despite their earlier momentum. The gap between them narrowed, and with three rounds still to play, the table remains fluid.
