AMPO Ordizia

In August 2023 Hernani CRE cut all ties with Ordizia Rugby Elkartea, citing disputes over player poaching and contract regulations. The two clubs, both from Gipuzkoa, already met each year in the "Derbi Guipuzcoano". Ordizia's other marked date is the "Derbi Vasco" against Getxo Artea.

The club is known as AMPO Ordizia after its sponsor, a gas station chain, and in the Basque country as "los de Goierri", after the region around the town. It played its first official match on 28 October 1973. Promotion to the División de Honor came in 1979, and for five years the side went up and came straight back down: relegated in 1980, promoted in 1981, relegated in 1982, promoted in 1983, relegated in 1984. A spell in the third tier followed. Ordizia won the Primera Nacional in 1997–98 and the División de Honor B in 2004–05, and the return to the top flight that season has not been reversed since.

The best years ran from 2010 to 2013 under the coach Axio Araña. Ordizia finished runners-up in the league in 2010–11 and 2011–12, then won the Copa del Rey in 2011–12 and 2012–13, the first major titles in the club's history. The Supercopa de España finals of 2012 and 2013 both went to El Salvador.

The league has come close again since. Ordizia were runners-up in 2021–22, and the club marked its 50th anniversary in 2023–24. In 2024 it signed Manu Mora, a Spain international with 40 caps, and the side plays on at the Estadio Municipal de Altamira, which holds 2,000.
