Liceo Frances

Fernando Díez won the Iberian Cup with Liceo Francés's youth side in 1992, and it was as head coach that he took the club back to the top division. The club had gone down in 2007 and spent 18 years in the lower divisions, mostly in División de Honor B.

The team he inherited had been built in the school's own yard. Ramón Urtubi, a physical education teacher, started the rugby section in 1968, when the Liceo Francés opened its facilities in the Parque del Conde de Orgaz. The club became legally independent on 15 July 1972 but has never left the school grounds in Hortaleza. Its 300-seat ground, inaugurated in 1978, carries Urtubi's name. The youth teams are known as Los Linces, the Lynxes, and the nickname has stuck to the whole club.

Youth titles came in 1992 and 1993, and there were junior titles in 1993 and 1994. An under-8 title followed in 2005, and a Cadete title in 2018. Javier Bardem, later an Academy Award-winning actor, played prop and flanker for the club until around 1990.

The senior side peaked in the 1990s. It finished runners-up in the División de Honor in 1990–91 and again in 1992–93, and reached the Copa del Rey final in 1989–90 and 2000–01. The women's team won the Copa de la Reina in 1999 and 2000.

The main rival is Complutense Cisneros, and the fixture is called the "Derby en el Central".
