The Vindico Arena seats just over three thousand, and on the nights that matter in Cardiff it fills with a noise out of proportion to that number. It has carried other names before this one, but the ice inside has stayed the Devils' since it opened.

The club took shape in 1986, in a city with no hockey history to speak of, and turned itself within a few seasons into the team the rest of the league had to catch. By the mid-1990s it had already stacked up regular season titles and playoff championships back to back, a run that started the habit of Cardiff being the team others measured themselves against.

That habit did not stay in the past. The Devils won the Elite League playoffs again in 2018 and 2019, then in 2022, and the rivalries built along the way — with Sheffield Steelers and with Belfast Giants — still carry the weight of old scores rather than routine fixtures. In January 2025 the club went further than a domestic season allows, beating Grenoble's Brûleurs de Loups on home ice to take the IIHF Continental Cup.

Names get retired in Cardiff rather than simply remembered: Steve Moria, Doug McEwen, John Lawless, Brian Dickson, Shannon Hope, Jason Stone, Brad Voth and Neil Francis all have their numbers out of circulation. Joey Martin and Mark Richardson carried that standard into the modern era, while academy graduates such as Jake Sacratini and Harry Thomas have given the club a pipeline of its own rather than one built purely on imports.

Eight Elite League playoff titles now sit in the club's history.
