Anita Görbicz spent twenty-four years on the same roster, from 1997 to 2021. She was named the world's best player in 2005.
The team grew out of Győri ETO, a multi-sport club founded in 1904, when its women's handball section was set up in 1948.
Squads built around Heidi Løke, Eduarda Amorim and Stine Bredal Oftedal carried that run through its middle years.
The club plays in green and white at the Audi Aréna, opened in November 2014 on the edge of the city the Hungarians call Győr and the Germans once knew as Raab.
